![]() ![]() Just how deep this system goes is still unknown. ![]() Team Cherry elaborated, via the aforementioned Edge Magazine feature, that while the quest line structure would not be totally different from the previous game, the presence of noticeboards will serve as a means to organize/locate additional side quests. Though such a log may not have been necessary then, Silksong, given its increased size and scope, contains a larger web of quests, enough to warrant the ability to track them more efficiently. Hollow Knight featured plenty of objectives to complete and secrets to explore, but no formal quest log was present. Lace, a featured boss fight in the demo, is “part of a group who is going to impede Hornet’s journey.” While there is no shortage of discourse about how these bosses and NPCs fit into the wider picture of Silksong based on trailer breakdowns, at this point, such analysis remains speculative. Several bosses and NPCs are present in the demo, as well as the announcement trailer. Silksong, described by Team Cherry as a “very large” game, will feature more than 165 new enemies. Instead of a sphere of liquid soul, we see Hornet with a spool of unwinding silk. Hornet also wields a needle and thread, as opposed to the Nail used by The Knight. That thematic focus filters all the way down to replacing Soul with Silk as a means to heal (which Hornet can do instantly) and use abilities. ![]() Agility and rhythm seem to be recurring themes in the revealed details, both in how Hornet plays, as well as the mentions of Pharloom being haunted by “song,” and the appearance of bells in the Nintendo Treehouse demo. Hornet has been revealed to be much more agile and acrobatic than The Knight, something that will come as no surprise to anyone who battled her in Hollow Knight. While many details of this system haven’t been revealed, Team Cherry mentioned to Edge Magazine that Hornet will use shell fragments, and the familiar rest benches, as a means to craft and restore various types of equipment and items, including bombs, spike traps, and the like. Keep up with our Not-E3 Press Conference Schedule for more on when you can see tons of presentations on upcoming games.Where charms were crucial to The Knight’s development in Hollow Knight, Hornet will instead use a new crafting system. Or they could pair up with one of the indie collective presentations that began to populate after E3 went on hiatus during the pandemic.Īnd since June is coming, those larger presentations may be on the way soon. ![]() If that's the case, we could see more from them at a Nintendo Direct, the streaming presentations reserved for Nintendo first-party and bigger third-party releases. In fact, we don't actually know for sure if either one will be shown at an Indie World Showcase, as they may have both passed a certain degree of indie notoriety that will put them on the main stage. But the year is young, and both studios have plenty of time left to give more news if either or both are indeed coming this year. This isn't exactly confidence-inspiring in either case. ae8bpBO1IR - Sidebar Games December 24, 2021Īs mentioned, both games were absent from the Nintendo Indie World Showcase. We're looking forward to the day we can share the game with you all. "We're honored that Hollow Knight: Silksong won the 2021 Unity Award for the most anticipated game, and hugely appreciate all of the fans who support us as we work on the game. This time those hopes were partially fueled by a recent statement given by developer Team Cherry at its acceptance of a 2021 Unity Award. It may seem longer because every time Nintendo announces a showcase, and especially an indie showcase like Indie World, the community gets its hopes up. Hollow Knight: Silksong, a sequel to the beloved action metroidvania game, was first announced in 2019, but since then updates have been sporadic and infrequent. Today's Nintendo Indie World featured a slew of cool-looking games, some of which are out today, but not two of the most anticipated indies that have been missing-in-action for some time. Another Nintendo Indie World presentation means another opportunity for Hollow Knight: Silksong and Sports Story fans to have their hopes dashed against the indifferent rocks. ![]()
